Astryan Labs

AI product company · Bengaluru

We build AI that does the work.

Astryan Labs builds software for the parts of a business that have to be right — where the output is a record someone is answerable for, not a draft someone has to check. Our first product does a company’s books.

What we build

The work is automatic. The approval never is.

Most AI products hand you a draft and leave the checking to you. We build for the parts of a business where the output is a financial record, so ours works the other way round — it does the whole job, then stops and puts it in front of a person. A human in the loop is not a setting here: nothing is committed until someone approves it, and every decision the system made is kept on the record for whoever has to answer for it.

Action

It does the job, not a draft of it

Our systems read the document, post the entry and reconcile the account. What comes out is a complete transaction rather than a suggestion for someone to retype — and it waits for a person to approve it before it counts.

Record

Every decision leaves a trail

Each decision is written to an append-only log, hashed to the one before it. Every entry links back to the document it came from, so anyone can check the work.

Judgement

It asks instead of guessing

Where the answer is fixed by law or policy, we encode it. The model reasons about what is left — and anything it is unsure of goes to a person, not into the books.

Our first product

Sumly does a company’s books.

Receipts, bills and bank statements go in. Categorised, reconciled books come out — with GST and TDS tracked against real invoices, and an audit trail a chartered accountant can check line by line.

Not software your accountant uses. Sumly is the accountant — it files the bill, sends the invoice, matches the bank and shows you what it did. You approve it before any of it counts.

The loop

One document in. One balanced entry out.

That is the whole loop, repeated for every receipt, bill, invoice and bank line in your business.

A supplier receipt for ₹4,720.00 including CGST and SGST at 9% each, converted by Sumly into a balanced journal entry debiting Office Supplies, Input CGST and Input SGST, and crediting the bank account.

Chat

Say it in plain English. It does the job.

Most people run their whole month through Chat. You open it, drag your documents in, and say what you want. It is not a help desk that tells you which button to press — ask it to file a bill and it files the bill, ask it to send an invoice and the invoice goes out.

  • Attach receipts, bills and bank statements straight into the conversation
  • It shows you what it actually did afterwards, not what it plans to do
  • Sits beside whatever page you are already on
The Sumly chat panel open beside the home screen, with a bill attached to a message.

Review & approve

Nothing is booked until you approve it.

Everything Sumly reads waits here. Each row is one document; open it and you see every field it read and where on the page it read it from. When something does not add up, the problems are listed in red and the Approve button stays switched off until they are resolved.

  • Accuracy blockers are named specifically, not scored as a percentage
  • The original document sits next to the extracted figures for checking
  • Approve one at a time, or clear a clean batch at once

Reconciliation

Matched to the bank, three ways at once.

Reconciling means checking that your books agree with your bank. Sumly compares the two and pairs each bank line with the invoice or bill it pays — but only when three things agree at the same time, so it never invents a payment that did not happen.

  • Amounts within about one percent of each other
  • Party names that genuinely look like the same party
  • Dates within six months — and a matched payment is never reused

Audit trail

Every decision, on the record.

Sumly records every decision ever made in your books — by the AI or by a person — saying what happened, when, who did it and why. The entries are locked together: each one carries a fingerprint of the one before it. Change any entry after the fact and every link after it stops matching.

  • Append-only and hash-chained, so tampering is detectable rather than deniable
  • AI decisions are marked as such, with the reasoning kept alongside
  • Press Verify to check the whole chain — this is what you show an auditor

The rest of it

Everything else it runs.

The same engine, applied to the rest of the month — each one working off the documents you have already approved.

Books
Every approved amount, newest first, each row opening onto the document it came from. Correct a categorisation once and it holds for that vendor from then on.
Invoices & bills
Raise an invoice here or ask Chat to do it, and it goes out by email. Bills you receive land in the same place, so what you are owed and what you owe are one list.
Tax estimates
What you are likely to owe on everything approved so far, and the dates it falls due. A guide for planning, not a filed return.
Reports
Profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance, cash flow and ageing — pick a report and a date range, read it on screen or export it.
Documents
Every file you have ever sent in, in folders, so the source of any number is one click away months later. Nothing needs renaming or sorting first.
Inbox
When Sumly is not confident it writes you a plain question rather than picking something. Answer once and it remembers. Your answer always wins.

Built here, for here

Indian compliance is the default, not a plugin.

Most bookkeeping tools treat GST and TDS as a regional add-on bolted to a US ledger. Sumly was built in Bengaluru against the Indian regime first — the same engine also runs US businesses, and switches regime, currency and accountant persona with the company you are looking at.

GST
Split correctly at the point of posting — CGST and SGST intra-state, IGST inter-state, on the right side of the entry.
Returns
GSTR-1, 2B and 3B tracked against the invoices you actually raised, with filing readiness showing what is still missing.
TDS
Section and rate held per vendor, with threshold tracking so a deduction is not missed on the payment that crosses the limit.
Books
Indian numbering (₹1,40,41,692), your own chart of accounts, and journals and vouchers in the form a CA expects to read.

Getting started

What the first week looks like.

  1. 01

    Send it your paperwork

Photograph a bill, forward an email, or drop in a folder of PDFs. Bank statements too. Nothing needs renaming or sorting first.

  2. 02

    It books everything

Sumly reads each document, posts a double-entry against your chart of accounts, splits the GST, and matches payments to the bills they settle.

  3. 03

You approve what it asks about

Anything it is unsure of comes to you as a plain question. Everything else is already booked, with a trail your CA can audit.

Where the line sits

It does the work. You sign it off.

Sumly drafts and posts, and it shows you exactly what it did — but nothing reaches your books until a person approves it, and the numbers it produces are estimates, not a filed return.

Nothing books itself
Every document Sumly reads waits in Review & approve. Where the figures do not add up, it names the problem and refuses to let the entry through until you resolve it.
Estimates are estimates
Tax, GST and TDS figures move as you approve more documents. They are a guide for planning, not a return, and they do not remove an obligation you owe to a tax authority.
Your CA stays your CA
Sumly does not give accounting, tax or legal advice, and using it creates no professional-client relationship. It is built to hand a chartered accountant a clean, auditable set of books — not to replace their judgement.
